Vague Travel Plans

Wait, I was off to bed wasn't I? Damn.

Anyway, just to alert you readers from London, the rest of Europe, and the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area:

I have vague plans to be in London for two weeks and possibly the US for two weeks in the middle of 2008.

Yes, I know it'll be winter.

And... I can only really do it if someone can off me a couch to sleep on for at least three of the four weeks I'm out of the country.

And if anyone has any suggestions how I should go (Melb->London->Washington->Melb or Melb->London->Washington->London->Melb or even Melb->London->Washington->LAX->Melb) let me know. I haven't traveled much, to put it mildly. But I do have a passport, which is a good start :-)

What is that supposed to mean?

Just because my friends in London want to see me, I should, what, not go?

2nd attempt at a comment

a starting point would be looking at ure flights on best flights it's a company i deal with at work (i work in Wholesale tourism)

which i would use to go MEL>LON>LAX>MEL - and then look at going an Airpass within the states through Star Alliance (United Airlines, American Airlines etc)which you can get 6 coupons to fly to various destinations within the states as long as you don't backtrack or if you want Uber cheap flights theres a US site called PriceLine where you name your price for the airfares. My dad has bought me tickets from London to the States this way before

I do suggest you speak to a travel agent - the airfares combination that you have is slightly complicated and to get the best fare available they really are better to speak to. There's a myth that online airfares can be cheaper but the retail agents can get access to wholesale fares that websites can only dream about and unlike website airfares they're not instant purchase. So you could "book" now and not have to pay until 45 days prior to departure and have the bonus of paying it off between now and when you depart

hopefully i've given u some food for thought and not confused u. but yeah feel free to ask any questions!!!

Re: 2nd attempt at a comment

Yeah, I've heard that travel agents are usually the best for weird trips like this one. Haven't cleared it with my friends yet, but will get a price really soon now.

Do you have a good travel agent in Melb? StudentFlights on Smith St. in Fitzroy are the best - good service, best prices :) Are you planning to come to Berlin by any chance? If you are there's space on the couch that's possible to be reserved :))) *hint hint*

PS: yes, I am human! Farken LiveJournal confirmations

Not sure I'll have time to come to Berlin, although I need to make time to pop over to Switzerland to visit some relatives. I mean, I have a lot to pack into what is (at the moment) only a month... Although I might see if I can make it longer...

Will keep the kind offer of your couch in mind :-)

middle of 2008 would be summer here, no? (brain not functioning too well due to lack of sleep due to teething child with a cold).

If we are still here and in the same place you can have a whole bed.

Of course! Damn, I'm stupid, it will indeed be summer! So I'll only need a light coat :-)

I may well take you up on that offer of a bed... Don't want to wear out my welcome at Julia's :-)

Hmmm... If it's summer, I'd better book a ticket soon, everyone else will be on their way there as well.

not necessarily!
I was in England this past July. Did not wear my shorts once. Often had on my long-sleeved shirt, my hoody and my coat (with fake fur trim). At times, I wished I had a scarf/hat/gloves... See, cold:

He he.. Yeah, I'm prepared for an English summer, so I'll take my Coat but not my Shorts :-)

I figure a coat that's good for a winter here will be good for a Summer there!

good rationale...
